The Internet can be an excellent resource for medical information.  However, this information is not always accurate.  Beautifully produced web pages may offer some of the worst advice.  Good information may not be as attractively presented.  To help you with this dilemma, Dr. Hissong suggests viewing the following links that are known to be trustworthy.

Multiple Topics

American Academy of Family Physicians  This is an excellent resource for multiple medical conditions.  There are easy to understand writings and great videos explaining how to recognize various conditions and possible treatments for them,

Beaumont Healthcare System (Oakwood Hospital Dearborn).  Learn about the cancer, cardiac, spine, orthopedic, & women’s centers.  Other available services are delineate.

Pediatric Health Problems  This gives wonderful information on parenting as well as several topics on children’s health.

Mayo Clinic You can search by disease & condition, or by your symptoms.  You can check out drugs and supplements, and tests and procedures

University of Michigan Health Center  The usual multiple health topics.  In addition you will find self-help resources, alternative medicine, and child development & behavioral resources.

Univ. of Cincinnati Med Center. Discusses many health topics.  Has referral to PubMed & Medline & is a resource for any medications.

John Hopkins University  (A website hosted by Harvard Medical School & Aetna). Another good resource for multiple medical conditions.
